The search for a missing 4-year-old Georgia boy tragically came to an end after investigators say his body was found in a pond near his home in Dekalb County.
The boy, Kyuss Williams, was reported missing after he wandered away from 1251 Fair Pines Cove on Monday night, according to the Dekalb County Police Department.
A search for the child began immediately after a man who said he was the boy’s uncle explained to officers that Williams went missing at 6 p.m. on Monday.
A neighbor told FOX5 Atlanta that officers didn’t search the pond area at first, but later came back after surveillance footage from a nearby store across the street showed the child heading towards the pond area.
At around 3 a.m. Tuesday, searchers announced that they recovered Williams’ body from the pond.
Investigators say the boy had drowned and they do not suspect foul play.
Concerned neighbors at the scene told the local outlet that the pond should be fenced off to stop something like that from ever happening again.
“They’ve been looking for this baby since earlier yesterday, and for them to just find this baby fat like 2:30 in the morning it’s downright wrong. I don’t understand,” neighbor Delores Watson says. “I can just pray for the parents.”
The investigation into Kyuss Williams’ death is ongoing.
