Louisiana authorities busted a Texas man on Monday after the suspect and a fellow associate were involved in a deadly accident while reportedly fleeing the scene of an attempted ATM theft in Denham Springs.
The Denham Springs Police Department said officers responded to a call on Monday morning, April 11, reporting an attempted ATM theft at Regions Bank on South Range Avenue.
Upon arrival, deputies found that the suspects erratically fled the scene after failing to remove the ATM from the bank.
The suspects fled in a white Ford F250 and were heading toward Florida Avenue where their car crossed the median, left the roadway, traveled through a field, and eventually stopped, according to DSPD.
One of the two suspects was arrested after fleeing the scene of the crash on foot. The second suspect, on the other hand, died from the injuries caused by the crash, police said.
Goldie L. Jones, 27, of Houston, was taken into custody on the charges of manslaughter, theft, simple criminal damage to property, and illegal possession of stolen things.
Investigators say the suspect who died was also from the Houston, Texas area.
In addition, investigators report that the vehicle used in the incident was stolen from the Walker area.
