A New Jersey man learned his fate on Friday when a judge sentenced him to 375 years in jail for viciously killing two children and a college student in 2016 after he became furious over a Facebook post, authorities said.
Jeremy Arrington, 31, was sentenced by Judge Ronald D. Wilgler to three consecutive life sentences for murdering 11-year-boy Al-Jahon, his 7-year-old sister Ariel Little, and for fatally shooting Syasia McBurroughs, a 23-year-old woman who visited the family in their Newark home in November 2016.
Last month, Arrington was found guilty of invading a home where he bound and tortured six people inside, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Arrington broke into the family’s home in 2016 and killed the two children and the friend who was visiting the family. Additionally, Arrington stabbed the children’s mother, 29, and two 13-year-old twins – a boy and a girl. Luckily, the mother and the twins survived.
The killer was slapped with additional consecutive 50-year sentences for each of the three murder charges for the surviving victims.
Before he is granted parole, the convicted murderer will have to serve a total of 281 years of his 375-year sentence.
Arrington became enraged after one of the victims reposted a police alert on Facebook with Arrington’s name as a suspect in an earlier sexual assault and shooting, according to prosecutors.
Armed with a loaded gun, Arrington broke into the family’s residence in broad daylight, tied everyone up, and tortured them with a kitchen knife, prosecutors said. A teenage girl with autism, a friend who was visiting the family, managed to free herself and called 911 while hiding inside a room.
Arrington was apprehended the same day after a standoff with police.
“This defendant is pure evil and clearly deserves all 375 years in New Jersey State Prison for the terrible crimes he committed on Nov. 5, 2016,” Deputy Chief Assistant Prosecutor Edwab said in a statement after the sentencing.
“These families have waited over five years for this moment, and we are all so grateful for this sentence. Thank you to all those who helped bring this defendant to justice and thank you to the jury for holding this defendant accountable.”
