Former President Barack Obama backed his former vice president, Joe Biden, on Tuesday evening after a video of Obama’s first visit to the White House in five years showed members of the audience swarming Obama, ignoring Biden, who was left alone looking pitifully sad and abandoned on stage.
“Always great catching up with @POTUS. Thanks for all you’re doing to help even more Americans get access to quality, affordable healthcare,” Obama tweeted, sharing a photo posted by Biden’s official Twitter account.
Hours earlier, footage making rounds on social media showed confused Biden throwing his hands up while walking around by himself. Behind the President, audience members surrounded Obama holding an animated conversation.
The Republican National Committee’s Research was quick to post the video on their Twitter page writing, “Literally no one wants to talk to Joe Biden.”
The RNC also tweeted a second video in which Biden is seen lingering behind Obama as he shook hands.
Following the event, Biden signed an order boosting health insurance subsidies to eliminate what he described as a “family glitch” — which makes it difficult for lower-income workers to buy health insurance for family members through ObamaCare.
