The 14-year-old Florida boy fell to his death from an amusement park ride in Orlando asked a friend beside him to deliver some last words to his parents in case he didn’t make it down.
The victim’s devastated father, Yarnell Samson, said in an interview that his son, Tyre, asked a friend strapped in next to ” Tell my parents I love them in case I don’t make it down.”
The grieving dad said his son felt uncomfortable and panicked as soon as the Orlando Free-Fall ride at ICON park began to ascend.
“When the ride took off, that’s when he was feeling uncomfortable. He was like ‘this thing is moving,’ you know what I’m saying. And he was like ‘what’s going on?’” Samson told Fox 35.
“And that’s when he started freaking out,” the dad continued.
The boy then asked the pal beside him: “If I don’t make it down tell….Please tell my mama and daddy I love them.
Samson believes his son must have felt something for him to say something like that. On Thursday, Tyre tragically fell from the ride with it was almost halfway down its 430-foot descent. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The heartbroken father is left wondering why his 340-pound son was in the first place allowed on this particular ride after he was stopped from getting on others because of his size.
“This one particular ride decided, ‘yeah, we’re gonna take you, come on, get on,’ when nobody else allowed him to get on the rides,” Samson told the Orlando station
“So I wanna know what happened between now and then that made them say, ‘come on, you can get on this ride,” he added.
Tyre had visited the park along with two of his friends. He came to Orlando from Missouri.
Samson said his son was an aspired football player with the hope of playing in the NFL.
“This should never happen to nobody else’s child ever again,” he said. “And if I have something to do with it, it never will ever again.”
Orange County Sheriff John Mina said the tragic incident, which appears not to be an intentional act, is under investigation.
