Authorities in Daytona Beach, Florida say the suspect in the murder of a married couple who were returning home from Bike Week confessed to the crime.
“Last night while speaking with investigators Jean Macean confessed to the murders of Terry and Brenda Aultman. Again, I want to thank my amazing team of investigators @DaytonaBchPD and all of our law enforcement partners who assisted us throughout this investigation,” Chief Jakari Young tweeted on Friday.
Police said Terry and Brenda Aultman were on their bikes heading home early Sunday morning when someone armed with a knife attacked, stabbed them and slashed their throats, leaving them in a pool of blood. The husband and wife were declared dead at the scene. Their bicycles were located about 5 to 10 feet away from their bodies.
Authorities provided a brief description of the suspect and an anonymous person came forward on Monday saying he had several photos of the suspect who had been on Seabreeze Boulevard on the night of the murders, according to the affidavit.
On Tuesday, someone informed the police that he had spotted the person of interest at an eatery. Following the tipster’s lead, security videos showed the suspect paying for his food with a credit card, the affidavit stated. The suspect signed the receipt “JM,” according to Fox 5.
On Thursday, Investigators received information from the credit card company which led them to Orlando where Jean R. Macean, 32, was busted that morning at an apartment complex.
He is being held without a bond and faces two counts of first-degree murder charges.
