Waukesha Christmas parade suspect Darrell Brooks has been slapped with additional 71 charges after Wisconsin prosecutors filed an amended complaint on Wednesday.
The additional charges include six counts of hit-and-run involving death, 61 counts of 1st degree recklessly endangering safety, two bail jumping felonies, and two misdemeanor domestic abuse charges.
Brooks is now facing 77 charges in total.
On November 23, Brooks was formally charged with six counts of first-degree intentional homicide after he allegedly drove his maroon Ford Escape into a group of people at a Christmas parade in Waukesha. At the time of the deadly incident, Brooks was allegedly on the run from the scene of a separate domestic incident.
In total, six people, including one young child, died in the incident on Nov. 21.
The six victims were identified as 81-year-old Wilhelm Hospel, 79-year-old Virginia Sorenson, 71-year-old LeAnna Owen, 52-year-old Tamara Durand, 52-year-old Jane Kulich, and 8-year-old Jackson Sparks.
Brooks will appear in court for a preliminary hearing in the case, which is scheduled for Friday.
Brooks has been a career criminal since 1999 and had always been out on low bail. In 2006, he was convicted of statutory sexual seduction after having sex with a 15-year-old girl, who later became pregnant.
In November last year, Brooks was out on $1,000 bail after he was accused of punching a woman and using his car to run over her, which was the same vehicle used in the Waukesha attack.
A junior prosecutor requested the $1,000 bail after Brooks ran over his ex-girlfriend on Nov. 3, using his red Ford Escape.
In February last year, Brooks posted a $500 bond and walked free after he allegedly shot his nephew in the summer of 2020.
