A food delivery driver is being credited for saving a toddler’s life after he spotted the child walking around in nothing but a diaper and socks on Sunday morning.
The delivery driver, Robert Jackson III, was driving along 8 Mile Road in Detroit, Michigan when he spotted the child at around 11 a.m. Jackson instantly stopped his vehicle, wrapped the child up in his coat, and put him in his car to warm up, FOX 2 Detroit reported.
The temperature outside read 38 degrees at the time the child was spotted, with a windchill of 29. Jackson reportedly stopped another car and asked the driver to call 911. While waiting for police to arrive on the scene, Jackson recorded video on his phone of him comforting the child.
The child was later identified and was determined to have just walked outside his family home, according to Detroit police. A 16-year-old sibling was supposed to be watching the boy at their residence less than a block away, investigators say.
The child was taken to a children’s hospital to be checked out. Jackson is happy he was there to help the child out.
