A Florida woman has flatly admitted to poisoning her longtime partner by spiking his drink with antipsychotic medication — in a bid to get him to stop talking, according to sheriff’s officials.
Last week, the 54-year-old woman, Alvis Lorraine Parrish, yelled to cops from the front porch of her Jacksonville home, confessing without remorse to lacing her boyfriend’s lemonade with Seroquel, Action News Jax reported.
“Yeah, I did it … because he wouldn’t shut the f–k up,” Parrish said, adding that she called 911 after giving her boyfriend plenty of the drug to shut him up but less than a lethal amount.
Parrish then vowed to kill her boyfriend as she was being taken into custody. “Do whatever you want,” Parrish said. “If you don’t take me, I will kill him,” according to the arrest report.
According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Seroquel is used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. Police officials found the man extremely lethargic inside the apartment, where told them he didn’t understand why he felt so weak.
“I’m not sure why she would give me that,” Parrish’s partner of nine years told deputies. “I don’t take Seroquel.”
The man initially didn’t want to go to a hospital but had to file out a report for alleged domestic battery due to his lethargic condition, according to authorities.
He then realized that his drink tasted weird, and a powdery substance was found at the bottom of the lemonade, investigators said. Meanwhile, the man’s girlfriend admitted to spiking his lemonade and also detailed her actions in a notebook, arrest reports show.
Parrish was charged with poisoning food or water with intent to kill or injure a person as she remained jailed on a $50,000 bond Wednesday. According to online records, she’s due back in court on Dec. 29.
