Alec Baldwin has deleted one of his two verified Twitter accounts after having a tell-all interview with George Stephanopoulos about the fatal shooting incident that occurred on the set of “Rust” movie.
Baldwin had two verified Twitter accounts and was much more active on one than the other. It seems the 63-year-old actor has completely deleted the one under the handle @AlecBaldwin, and which he used to issue statements about the fatal shooting incident in October. However, his second Twitter account, @AlecBaldwln____, remains active, with the latest tweet being from October 19. Prior to that, it was only active in June.
It’s unclear why Baldwin decided to delete the account this time. However, the beginning of his interview with Stephanopoulos coincides with the timing. The interview was Baldwin’s first formal one since the on-set tragedy that resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza.
Baldwin told Stephanopoulos among the many revealing moments from the interview that he wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger that resulted in the gun firing. Instead, the actor claims that he was rehearsing the scene with Hutchins and that it required him to pull the hammer back on the firearm.
“I let go of the hammer of the gun,” Baldwin described. “And the gun goes off.”
Baldwin said he didn’t know that someone was shot until he found himself in the police station hours later. Other noteworthy moments from the interview included Baldwin saying that he does not believe he’ll face any charges as a result of the incident. However, the actor is currently listed among those involved in civil litigation over the death of Hutchins.
