Chris and Roberta Laundrie will be having neither a traditional funeral nor any special event for their son Brian, Mag Grand has learned.
Brian Laundrie will be cremated, and his ashes will be returned to the family, attorney Steve Bertolino said. However, it is unclear what Brian’s parents will do with his ashes once they have been returned them.
Brian’s remains were discovered in a Florida nature park last week, but a coroner failed to determine the 23-year-old’s cause of death.
According to police, Brain had died for weeks before his body was found. His remains were mostly bones after weeks of decay and due to possible exposure to the elements and wildlife.
After a coroner could not determine how he died, Brian’s bones have been sent to an anthropologist for “further evaluation,” Mag Grand has reported earlier.
Neither the FBI nor local police has contacted Chris and Roberta since they confirmed the remains found in the Carlton Reserve were their son, according to the attorney.
Meanwhile, investigators are still reviewing the notebook and backpack found near Brian’s remains. Authorities are hopefully expecting a “salvageable” notebook, though it is unclear if the book contains any content that could shed light on Brian’s last moments.
In addition, authorities are also expecting to find any write-up inside the notebook that could relate to the case of Brian’s girlfriend Gabby Petito, who was found dead in a Wyoming park last month.
