Investigators have discovered the body of Miya Marcano, the 19-year-old girl who was reported missing late last month. The body was found bound with duct tape, Police said. Orange County Sheriff John Mina, at a press conference Wednesday, revealed the news of the discovery.
“Miya was found bound with black duct tape on her feet and hands and her mouth was also covered with black duct tape,” Mina said.
Marcano, who was a student at Valencia College, was last seen alive on Sept. 24 around 5 p.m. at the Arden Villas Apartments in Orlando, where she resided and worked in the leasing office.
Marcano’s remains were discovered on Saturday by investigators who were scouring an area near the Tymber Skan on the Lake Condominiums, an apartment complex not far from her home.

According to Mina, the 19-year-old did have jeans on when her body was found. However, her shirt was ripped off. Marcano was wearing a bra and a robe that was on her body. Her shirt was inside her purse next to her body.
Detectives were able to locate the apartment complex via the phone records of Armando Caballero, the deceased prime suspect who was found dead by suicide on Sept. 27. Based on the records, 27-year-old Caballero was in the area for around 20 minutes on the day Marcano vanished.
According to investigators, Caballero had feelings for Marcano but was repeatedly rebuffed before she disappeared. Prior to committing suicide, Caballero told investigators that he last saw the 19-year-old student on Sept. 24 at work. Investigators are adamant that Caballero, who worked maintenance at the complex where Marcano lived, snicked into her apartment using a master key before she got off work.
“There is no doubt he was waiting for her knowing she was going to be coming home from work,” Mina said per People’s report. It is unclear if Marcano had been sexually assaulted or if she left the apartment alive.
“The two people who have the most answers in the case, Armando Caballero and Miya Marcano, are not with us and we can’t get some of the answers right now,” Mina said.
