Authorities revealed on Wednesday that the missing hiker found dead in Wyoming near the site where Gabby Petito’s remains were found died by suicide. According to officials, Robert Lowery died by suicide after shooting himself in the head. He was a father of three from Huston. Fox News reported
Lowery’s body was found last week by a search and rescue team near the Black Canyon Trail in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, where Gabby’S remains were discovered on Sept. 19. The massive search for Gabby Petito has led to the discovery of Lowery’s body.
According to investigators, Lowery was wearing a black baseball cap and carrying a Nike duffel bag while on the Black Canyon Trail. His body was found off the trail on a steep, wooded slope by a dog team during the search.
Lowery left behind two children, a 15-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter, and their mother, Christelle.
A GoFundMe page was created to raise money for his children’s education. As of the time of this writing, over $45,000 had been raised of $50,000 goal.
