‘I’m telling you, it was him.’
A hiker told a 911 dispatcher that he is 99.99% sure he met and spoke with Florida fugitive Brian Laundrie on the Appalachian. According to a newly released recording, the hiker, Dennis Davis, told a North Carolina Sheriff’s Office dispatcher that he saw Brian. “I’m telling you, it was him.”
According to Davis, Brian was talking wild and acting funny when he met him on Saturday morning. Davis formerly told the New York Post this week that he was flagged down by a man who was “talking wild” on the Appalachian Trail Saturday morning.
In his 911 call Saturday, Davis said Brian was driving a white pickup truck when he came upon him on the Appalachian Trail. Brian had reportedly camped on the Appalachian Trail alone in the past. Davis described Brian’s vehicle as a new model of Ford F150. “It wasn’t like an old beater. It was a newer truck,” he said.
Davis said Brian came up behind me when he was making a U-turn in the road. He told the dispatcher that Brian was talking wild. Davis said Brain was asking him how to get to California to see his girlfriend, who loved him so much. However, Brian declined to take the road Davis suggested to him and drove off.
“He was acting funny,” Davis said. “I wasn’t sure about what he looked like. And then I went and parked and pulled up the photographs of him, and I’m 99.99 percent sure that that was him.”
Twelve hours after the sighting was reported, a deputy was dispatched to the scene for investigation. The Haywood County sheriff released a statement on Monday, saying they had received a high volume of calls regarding Brian Laundrie being spotted over the past several days. However, each call was investigated thoroughly, and areas of concern searched, but all to no avail.
Meanwhile, Brian Laundrie’s sister, Cassie Laundrie, breaks silence on her brother’s disappearance and Gabby Petito’s death.
