Cassie Laundrie, the 31-year-old sister of the Florida fugitive Brian Laundrie, told protesters outside her home on Monday that her family has been ignoring her regarding her brother’s disappearance and the death of his fiancée.
Cassie told protesters that she didn’t know if her parents were helping his brother evade authorities as she hadn’t been able to speak with them.
“I’m in the boat where I’m getting ignored by my family and thrown under the bus by my family’s attorney,” Cassie Laundrie said.
Cassie delivered her first public remarks to a gathering of protesters last month at her home while a search was underway for her brother. Brian is wanted by the FBI for alleged debit card fraud and has been as a person of interest in Gabby Petito’s disappearance and death.
This exposure comes after Duane “Dog” Chapman uncovered documents that reported the Laundrie family went camping with Brian three days after Petito was missing. According to the report, Cassie later visited them at the campsite.
The family’s lawyer admitted that Cassie visited her brother and parents on Sept. 6 at the Fort De Soto Park campsite. However, she told an ABC News interviewer that she hadn’t been able to talk to her brother and wished she could speak to him.
Speaking to protesters on Monday, Cassie accused the media of misconstruing what she said when they asked her if she had seen her brother. She denied the press did not ask her: “Have you seen Brian?” Instead, the question she was asked was: ‘What’s the weirdest thing about this all?’
Petito’s body was uncovered by an FBI-led search at a Wyoming campsite north of Jackson Hole on Sept. 19, five days after Brian vanished. He returned home from a cross-country road trip on Sept. 1 in Petito’s van – but without her. He left home for hiking on Sept. 14. and was reported missing three days later by his parents.
Cassie said that they did not discuss anything about Petito at the campground as she was last seen alive days earlier. Moreover, she said she didn’t know anything about Petito’s death. Fox News reports.
The FBI hasn’t currently uncovered Brian’s whereabouts, but Dog the Bounty Hunter believe he is hiding in the Appalachian Trail. The Bounty Hunter said he has turned over evidence he found about Brian Laundrie to authorities for a DNA examination on Monday.
