Jennifer Lawrence showed off baby bump at the Rally for Abortion Justice in Washington, D.C., on Saturday. The 31-year-old actress, expecting her first child with husband Cooke Maroney, and her pal, Amy Schumer, attended the women’s march for Abortion Justice in Washington D.C. on Saturday. Schumer uploaded a photo from the outing on Instagram.
Pregnant Jennifer Lawrence was wearing a denim jacket on a checkered dress as she proudly held up a sign that read: “Women can’t be free if they don’t control their bodies.” Schumer also was holding a sign that reads: “Abortion is essential.”
Captioning the photo, the 40-year-old comedian wrote: “I don’t have a uterus, and she is pregnant, but we out here,” referencing the surgery she had lately with both her appendix and uterus being removed due to extensive endometriosis.
The two women attended the rally to show their support for abortion rights regarding the Texas enacting Senate Bill 8. The law bans termination of pregnancy of six weeks and above with no exceptions for incest or rape.
Over the weekend, several events in relation to the Women’s March happened across the United States. In New York City, over 2,000 protesters assembled for a rally in Foley Square while hundreds of protesters crossed the Brooklyn Bridge. The two groups conjoined somewhere in Washington Square Park.
