A Missouri man has been arrested after trying to sell a catalytic converter on Facebook. The 38-year-old man, James Kertz, was arrested after he forgot to hide a considerable stash of meth and a syringe that appeared in the background of the photo he used for the advertisement.
On Wednesday, Kertz posted the catalytic converter photo on Facebook Marketplace. He was taken into custody in Reeds Spring. In the picture, Kertz’s bag of meth and drug paraphernalia were evident on the coffee table behind the exhaust emission device he was trying to market.
Soon after Kertz posted the photo on Facebook, a user swiftly contacted the cops and tipped them off to the drug stash. Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader revealed in a statement.
“Apparently he must have been under the influence because in the background of his picture he posted, he left his large bag of meth and syringe on the coffee table. Take note, if you are selling items on social media, make sure your drugs are not in the background. We have now provided him a new place to stay. Sorry folks, his catalytic converters are not for sale right now,” the sheriff added.” the sheriff said.
In addition, police uncovered 48 grams of meth and a handgun after conducting a search warrant at Kertz’s home. According to authorities, Kertz wasn’t legally allowed to own the gun. Kertz was charged on Friday for possessing a controlled substance as he remains in Stone County jail without bond.
His past convictions include domestic assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and resisting arrest. The New York Post reports.
