Late Gabby Petito’s best friend, Rose Davis, said Brian Laundrie is capable of surviving on his own in the wilderness. Davis, on Thursday, told PEOPLE that Laundrie is out in the wilderness. She precisely noted that Laundrie had lived in the wild on his own before. “He lived in the Appalachians by himself for months,” Davis said. So, he is still out there camping if he is alive, Davis insisted.
The search for Laundrie, the 23-year-old who was reportedly last seen on Sept. 14, continued in Carlton Reserve. He told his parent his was going for a nature hike and hasn’t returned since then.
However, Petito’s body was found in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park over the weekend. On Sept. 11, Petito was reported missing by her mother after not hearing from her for two weeks.
She was traveling the Country in a van with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie. Laundrie returned to his parents home with the van but without Petito. Authorities believe she died by homicide. When Laundrie returned alone, he has refused to sit down and discuss the case with investigators.
Davis has been telling police and FBI agents everything she knows about Laundrie. He is in the swamps and on the run, Davis tells PEOPLE. She also insisted that Laundrie is not holed up with someone who might be harboring him. “He doesn’t have friends; he only reads books,” Davis said.
Laundrie, however, hasn’t been identified as a suspect in his fiancée’s death. But authorities named him as a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance and death. Moreover, Laundrie’s disappearance sparks a massive search using drones, search dogs, and divers.
Brian Laundrie left home without a phone or wallet, and his parents were concerned he might hurt himself, source says.
Gabby Petito’s father, Joseph Petito, took to Twitter this week to announce his beloved daughter’s funeral services.
