It didn’t take long before investigators and first responders showed up at the crime scene. However, the suspect, who is also a fellow student at the school, took off before police arrived, authorities said.
After few hours of intensive search, officials caught up with the juvenile suspect. He is actually a 15-year-old boy but his name hasn’t been revealed.
Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough Jr., who was among the first to respond to the active shooter call, said he couldn’t hold his tears after leaving the hospital.
I haven’t cried in a while, but I’ve been crying since I left the hospital.
Kimbrough said
Gov. Roy who spoke to reporters after the incident said:
“This is a pain and a fear that no child or parent should ever have to confront simply by having a child go to school,” Cooper said. “School is a place of learning and growth and we have to do everything we can to keep them free of threats and violence.”
