Watching movies is one of the many daily activities most people across the globe engage themselves in. This is because of the fun they derive from this activity. For the sake of movie enthusiasts, I made a recommendation on the top 10 best movies in 2021 so far. Since the beginning of the year, it would interest you to know that a lot of movies have been released and more are still yet to be released. Most people already have their favorite movies but the fact is that it might be difficult to have a favorite when there are other blockbuster movies you are yet to watch. So, without much further ado, let’s have a look at the list below:
10. The Mauritanian
The Mauritanian is a 2021 legal drama film based on the true story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a Mauritanian man who was held in the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, a US military prison, for fourteen years without any charge. Slahi finds allies in defense attorney Nancy Hollander (Foster) and her associate Teri Duncan (Woodley) after losing all hope. They are up against insurmountable odds in their desperate search for justice. However, a strange thing happened when Lt. Colonel Stuart Couch (Cumberbatch), a powerful military prosecutor, uncovered false facts, which led to the discovery of a surprising and far-reaching plot.
9. Voyagers
This is yet another fascinating movie to add to your movie collection. Voyagers feature stars like Colin Farrell, Tye Sheridan, and Lily-Rose Depp. The story talks about a group of young men and women who embarked on an expedition to colonize a distant world, with the human race’s survival in jeopardy. However, after disclosing alarming details about the quest, they became helpless for pleasure, hunger, and strength once they avoided drinking the “Blue.” The Blue is a drug that prevents them from having sexual desires, as well as losing their control and strength. They then begin to delve through their most primal selves to escape the spaceship.
8. Judas and the Black Messiah
Judas and the Black Messiah is an American biographical drama film starring Daniel Kaluuya, Lakeith Stanfield, and Jesse Plemons. The story talks about Fred Hampton, a young, charismatic activist, who became Chairman of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party – putting him directly in the crosshairs of the government, the FBI, and the Chicago Police. The authorities, on the other hand, would need a man on the inside to put him down. The FBI then came up with a good offer to William O’Neal, who was working for chairman Fred, so he could help infiltrate the Illinois branch of the Black Panther Party to get information about him to bring him down.
7. Black Widow
This is yet another blockbuster movie on this list. It is a film about Natasha Romanoff and her quest to survive. She was orphaned as a child and was saved by a man named Ivan Petrovitch Bezukhov, who raised and educated her during an assault on Stalingrad. Natasha’s abilities drew the attention of Soviet Intelligence, soon to be known as the KGB, and she was recruited into their ranks as she grew older.
6. Coming to America 2
This movie was set in the royal country of Zamunda. It talks about the story of a newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) who embarked on a hilarious adventure that takes them around the globe from their great African nation to Queens, New York, where it all started. The plot revolves around King Akeem’s return to America to meet his son after learning of his existence. When you are making a sequel that will be released about 30 years later, you need a good plot. There has to be a compelling reason for reuniting the band, particularly because the first film is regarded as a comedy classic. To cut the short, this sequel wasn’t disappointing.
5. Zack Snyder’s Justice League
This is yet another fascinating movie to watch. It was inspired by Bruce Wayne. Driven by his restored confidence in humanity and motivated by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne joins forces with Diana Prince to assemble a team of metahumans to defend the earth from a looming threat of apocalyptic proportions. The mission proves to be more challenging than Bruce expected, as each of the recruits must confront the demons of their pasts to overcome the obstacles that have kept them apart, allowing them to eventually unite and form an unparalleled league of heroes. Now that Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash have joined forces, it might be too late to save the world from Steppenwolf, DeSaad, and Darkseid’s evil plans.
4. The Courier
If you are looking for a very fascinating movie, this is another one to watch out for. The film tells the true story of Greville Wynn who, along with Oleg Penkovsky, played an integral role in ending the Cuban Missile Crisis. Wynn was a working-class businessman who traveled across Eastern Europe regularly. MI6 finally hired him to make a series of sales trips to Moscow. Later, he became a crucial courier for top-secret Soviet intelligence. Penkovsky, a senior GRU officer, assisted Wynn in gathering top-secret information and relaying it to western intelligence agencies. The KGB finally uncovered them for their intelligence smuggling. They were arrested in 1962 for their spying operations, and Wynn was sentenced to eight years in prison. Meanwhile, Oleg received a death sentence and was hanged the following year.
