It was a sad birthday for Queen Elizabeth II yesterday as she celebrated her 95th birthday, four days after having buried her husband, Prince Philip. While some relatives of the royal family sent the Queen their good wishes on social media, Kate Middleton and Prince William preferred to abstain.
Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 95th birthday yesterday, Wednesday, April 21. A very sad day for Her Majesty, who is still in mourning for the death of her husband Prince Philip. In 74 years, this is the first year that the Duke of Edinburgh is not present by the Queen side and also no festivity has taken place due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a period of mourning. No cannon fire, no parade in the streets of London, no big family meal, and neither the presence of Prince Harry who returned to California after the funeral. Only a few messages was posted on Twitter to commemorate this special day.
Today is The Queen’s 95th birthday.

However, unlike in previous years, Prince William and Kate Middleton simply retweeted the palace post. Four days after Prince Philip’s funeral at St George’s Chapel, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge don’t seem to be in the mood of writing any message on social media.
According to The Mirror, the Queen was however able to welcome some members of the royal family on her birthday, including Sophie of Wessex, Lady Louise Windsor and James Windsor. A video call has been made for Elizabeth II to speak with her great-grandchildren – George, Charlotte and Louis – who have returned to London with their parents Prince William and Kate Middleton. And to wrap up the sad day, the Queen went to Frogmore to walk her two new puppies, Fergus and Muick.
