Lady Gaga’s former creative director, Laurieann Gibson, just revealed the singer allegedly fired her via email just because the people around Gaga thought she was growing too big by working with other artists.
The 51-year-old Canadian choreographer who was the creative brains behind Gaga’s “Monster Ball” tour is known to have built the singer into a superstar with her debut album “The Fame Monster”. Gaga’s relationship with Gibson seemed to be working smoothly until Gibson started working with other artists including Katy Perry and even dived into the fashion industry with supermodel Naomi Campbell.
Before meeting Gaga, Gibson is known to have choreographed dance numbers for musical artists such as Michael Jackson, Alicia Keys, and Beyoncé. In her new book Dance Your Dance: 8 Steps to Unleash Your Passion and Live Your Dream, Gibson describes how people surrounding Gaga wanted her to focus solely on the singer. She goes further to draw on her fascinating artistic experiences and the faith that sustained her through her biggest challenges.
Gibson told Pagesix she is convinced the falling-out between her and Lady Gaga wasn’t about the two of them at all. Instead, some of the people around Gaga thought she shouldn’t be working with other artists. They thought that she was taking too much spotlight, She told the outlet. “Just as I realized this chatter was happening, Gaga fired me. In an email. I’m not even sure she wrote it herself,” Gibson added.
“Working with Gaga was undoubtedly a very exciting time for me because, prior to that, I had done ‘Making the Band.’ I had worked with Missy Elliott, the Jonas Brothers, The Dixie Chicks. I had worked with the greats.” Gibson told pagesix.
In the book, Gibson offers a step-by-step guide to living out your vision. ‘Because when it comes to being who God created you to be, it’s always your time to shine’, Gibson writes.
