English actor Thomas Stanley Holland, revealed his dark side as he graced the the cover of Esquire magazine’s 2021 style issue. Holland shared the cover photos, taken by Australia photographer Robbie Fimmano, on Instagram Tuesday.
For the cover story, Holland talked about his upcoming movies, lifestyle and more. The 24-year-old actor revealed to Esquire’s Allie Jones how his mother felt unhappy about his role in “Cherry,” an upcoming American crime drama film in which Holland plays an Army medic who returns home from the Iraq war, develops a heroin addiction, and starts robbing banks.
Pleased with his performance after filming the scene, Holland immediately forwarded the footage to his mother, something any young person would do in a moment of pride. He now regrets his actions and calls it “Biggest mistake ever.”
“Biggest mistake ever,” he told Allie Jones. “I was like, ‘This is how my day’s going,’ and she was furious with me.”
“I guess I wasn’t thinking right, and I was like, ‘Do you know who would really like to see this? My mum.’ In hindsight, it was a really stupid thing to have done.” Holland continues: “I think when my mum goes to see my films in particular, the things she likes the most are the moments she goes, ‘Oh, that’s my little boy.’ But in this film there’s nothing like that.” According to the story, his mum has now forgiven him. Holland said that his number one priority is satisfy his parents as long as they are alive. And above all he just wants to please everyone including his family, bosses, and his fans while facing perhaps the biggest challenge of all in the process: being pleased with himself.
Allie Jones revealed that Holland may have a mysterious shorter hair in his upcoming movie “The untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home” sequel which is set to be released on the 17th of December 2021. That was just the only thing he could reveal regarding the highly anticipated sequel, because he’s not supposed to talk about it at all.
“I honestly have no idea what this film is about and I’m eight weeks into shooting it,” he told Jones.
Holland is a very private person when it comes to his personal life. He is not known to have talked about dating someone in an interview before, or even brought someone as a date on the red carpet. But over the summer, Holland shared a couple photos of the British actress Nadia Parkes on Instagram whom he identified as his girlfriend. He doesn’t quite confirm that yet and does not deny it either. She is just his special someone.
“I spoke to her about it, and that was something that she felt comfortable with me posting,” Holland says. “But I am very, very selective with what I post.”
Holland admitted to Jones, that he needs serious relationships at his age now, but he is not quite sure how to go about sharing them with his 39 million Instagram followers. He’s worried that his followers could turn against someone he cares about.
“If you were to break up with that person, people will have their own opinions as to why you broke up or whose fault it was. And me being a famous person and having people that love me around the world, if I were to break up with a poor girl, they might think it was her fault.” Holland revealed to Jones. “And I wouldn’t want that pressure to be on someone because of me.”
Holland finally admitted that if it means quitting Instagram in order to keep his relationships private, he would do it. “But I think Marvel and Sony would shit their pants if I said goodbye to all of my followers,” he jokingly told Jones.
Tom Holland’s upcoming movies include: Untitled Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel (17 December 2021), Cherry (26 February 2021), Uncharted (8 July 2021), and Chaos Walking (March 2021).
