Rapper Lil Wayne, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, has been charged in Florida by the federal court on Tuesday after a gold-plated handgun was discovered in his luggage upon arriving in Miami on a private plane. The Miami Herald reported.
The 38-year-old rapper was charged with a federal offense that carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison. Wayne will be facing 10 years in prison for the offense, if convicted.
Lil Wayne’s attorney, Howard Srebnick, said in a statement that a mere possession of a weapon by a felon does not make him a dangerous person as there is no allegation that Wayne ever fired the gun.
“Carter is charged with possessing a gold-plated handgun in his luggage on a private plane. There is no allegation that he ever fired it, brandished it, used it or threatened to use it,” Srebnick said. “There is no allegation that he is a dangerous person.”
Wayne told investigators that the gun was a Father’s Day gift.
Tweeter is wondering if this has anything to do with the rapper’s support for Donald Trump.
Here is fellow Rapper 50 Cent’s reaction to the news:
“Wait a minute Trump still got 63 days left, call him wayne. get that fool on the phone. They gonna try to put you in jail for supporting trump. ABC for life tomorrow 10pm.”
