What a week this week is turning out to be for Harmonie. Be strong now, because things will get better! It might be stormy now, but it can’t rain forever.
I cannot even put into words how I was feeling 6 years ago today, but my gosh, look at this little beauty now! The video caption reads.
Watch the video:
According to her parents, Harmonie was born with both her full arms and both her full legs.
Harmonie contracted meningococcal septicaemia when she was a baby, in other words, she caught the meningococcus bacteria, which then resulted in her getting septicaemia, quite often meningitis comes along and then the sepsis does too, Harmonie was so desperately unwell she was given less than 10% chance of survival… I will never forget holding her freezing cold swollen hand that had turnt a hard shiny black…
Both Harmonies arms and legs had to be amputated in order for her to survive. Her nose sadly came away on its own.

One of Harmonies arms developed a fatal infection which meant she had it taken off sooner than we had hoped. I remember helping them with her bandages, when the arm nearly came away and it had bright green discharge. It was absolutely awful.

The damage that sepsis done was not only on the outside, but it had damaged her vital organs on the inside too. She still suffers with chronic kidney disease. All her vital organs were being supported by medication, without that medication they would not of functioned..
But look at her today!!!!! We really are the lucky ones!

Sepsis is a life threatening reaction to an infection. It happens when your immune system overreacts to an infection and starts to damage your body’s own tissues and organs. You cannot catch sepsis from another person.
Sepsis is sometimes called septicaemia or blood poisoning.
