At least four people, two children, and two adults died following an apparent murder-suicide at home in Colorado, according to authorities’ report on Sunday. The tragedy subsequently prompted large police response on Saturday.
On Saturday around 10 a.m., Deputies received a call reporting that someone was injured on the scene and needed help in a home in the Colorado Springs area, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said that when deputies arrived at the scene and entered the apartment, they found two juveniles and two adults dead. According to one witness, he saw a large, black armored vehicle transporting a sheriff’s office tactical support unit in his normally quiet neighborhood, The Gazette reported.
“It felt like we were being invaded,” the witness who, who only gave his first name as Joe, told the news outlet. According to authorities, a “reverse 911″ or Everbridge, was sent to residents in the neighborhood within a 2-mile radius, asking them to remain inside and lock their doors and windows.
It was unclear if the victims were related or who carried out the attack. Authorities have not yet revealed details on their identities until positive identification by the Coroner’s Office and notification of next of kin.
